Scheme 23: Protection for stadiums (excluding the ground)

Stadium is a place or venue for outdoor/indoor sports or concerts or other events. It usually consists of a field or stage either partly or completely surrounded by tiered structures designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event. We may have thousands of stadiums of international standard that can accommodate over 50000 people at a time. Stadiums have always presented unique safety concerns.

Accidents happen in stadiums on account of various reasons like:

1. Fan violence

2. Lack of effective crowd control

3. Traffic congestion leading to stampede

4. Building collapses

5. Terrorists attacks

6. Food poisoning etc

Thousands of people are getting killed and millions are affected with fatal injuries in various forms of accidents in stadiums.
